I can't see any future in it.

In fact I can't see any future in ANY of the TV formats that are proprietary non open and require manufacturers (and presumably producers, broadcasters, etc.) to pay licensing fees for.

Can you imagine the situation if we had the BBC broadcasting in one format and ITV in another? Even the French had to give up SECAM and the PAL / NTSC formats have gone the way of the Squariel in the days of digital broadcasting and streaming.

I tell you what British Tv sucks now there never anything on unless you like cooking or some chat show the Tv license should be scrapped because I do not understand what I am paying for anymore .

HDR and Dolby vision are things I will never even consider. My TV, avr and Roku are all hdcp 2.2 compliant. However despite changing every cable I could lay my hands on. The Roku still says no hdcp 2.2.

I just gave up. Let manufacturers get the basics straight first.
