If i was to purchase a new amp and blu-ray player, it would probably be the denon AVR-X2100W and a samsung BDF7500 which can be bought for less than £600 which i would buy early next year, my current amp and blu-ray player is still working fine from 2008 and i am happy with the sound, the only reason for upgrading is so i can watch films in 3D which i can't currently do.

I can't help wondering whether i should hold off untill the summer for a 2015 model and is it going to be worth buying a first gen 4K blu-ray player, or should i just go for the samsung next summer when i buy the amp and sell it in a couple of years time when 4K blu-ray becomes more affordable.................hmn *unknw*

Hi simonlewis.

If your happy with your current amp, then the best idea would be to buy a new 3D blu-ray player with dual HDMI outputs, one would go to your amp, so you still get the HD audio formats and the second output would go straight to the tv so you could watch your 3D discs.

The only other thing you would need is a second HDMI lead (maybe longer) from the new player to your tv.

Hope this helps.

As I've mentioned on Gel's other thread I don't think a 4K blu-Ray player will surface. It's not really a good idea to get first gen kit anyway as there are always newer and better modles out soon after and you'd only want to change it again.

I think it's going to be a good few years before the whole 4K thing settles down anyway. Meaning weather they decide solid state is the way to go and how to distribut 4K content to us end users.

I would tied yourself over for now with a 3D player as mentioned above.

Of course if you really want to have the new thing on the block then go for it, what ever surfaces.
