Do i need to compromise??

As you will see from my pics, although im pretty pleased so far with my set up a compromise needs to be made and need some advice.

Do i go for a seperate sub sat package (B&W MT25/30, Kef 3005se, MA Radius HD) and lose the scale of the floorstanders but gain the ability to put the front L + R at the right height for the screen or keep the current theme and tolerate the effects losing a bit their realism as they are not locked into the screen??

The room is 6mtrs x 5mtrs and I am worried sub sats wont fill the space?!??

I would say it depends on how much music was a factor as well. Some Sub/Sat packages (like the MA HD package) sound excellent with films, look good and are compact.

If music is not so important then perhaps go for the Sub/Sat.

Alternatively, does the receiver have dual outputs (A and B) for the front channel?? Maybe you could get the Sub/Sat package and retain the floorstanders for music??

Yamaha receivers usually have a front effects channel. Maybe this might help??

I'll be honest, when you're watching a film, are you really thinking "the front sounds are coming from a slightly lower altitude than that from where my eyes are looking"? If you are, you're not watching the right films!

In all seriousness, I can't see any issue with your setup, other than (for me) the TV is mounted too high and I would get neck ache looking up at it.

Thanks for comments, the plan is even if I do go to a sub sat system, to keep the iQ7s for music duties, possibly splitting the system in 2 pairing the Kandy CDP up with the new Kandy amp. As for the films the height of the screen isn't too bad cos I sit about 5mtrs back from it but there does seem to be holes in the effects and im guessing part of the problem is positioning but part is also due to mismatching speakers.

Ive got Thursday off and plan to have bit of a spend up, just trying to decide where best to spend it!! Anyone heard the new KEF Sub they are selling with the 3005SE package as an upgrade at the moment?

Makes sense. I've done the exact same thing, One set-up for Hi-Fi and another completely separate for A/V. OK, so I have 10 speakers in my lounge (including the sub), but the sat's are small and discrete so it doesn't feel like you've walked into a branch of Sevenoaks.

I don't think you'll have a prob with sats filling the space. My Lounge is about 4m x 3m, but opens up to a dining room around 3m x 2m, so there's still a decent amount of air to shift. My B&Ws never struggle and it can go waaaay louder than I'd ever need.

I have a similar room shape and hanging the tv above the fireplace is a possibility for me too

Will the TV be ok there in regards to heat from the fireplace below?

Cheers "big Chris" for your comment, 2 systems is def the way forward. Can I ask what you did about your sub? is it only used for the HC stuff or do you use it for music too??

As for the TV above the fireplace, the official answer is probably no don't do it but I ve had a plasma there for 5 years, we very rarely use the fire hence choice of placement but then would you really get that much intense heat coming over the mantle to the screen in any case? If in doubt dont.

Saying that most plasma's kick off enough heat to not need a Fire.....

The sub is the only item which is used in both systems. Connected to my A/V amp with low-level phono/RCA connector, and connected to my Hi-Fi amp with the supplied high-level/speaker connector.

I've trawled through the manual and it doesn't say anything about using both connections at the same time. I'm careful to ensure it only receives one signal at a time, but it's been connected this way for ages and I've had no issues (and it sounds great).
