Do i have a dead box?

Have just unpacked my onkyo 875 and gone through all the setup instructions. Thge box turns on but i just can't get any sound out of it at all! I've checked a rechecked all the connections. When i plug the microphone in and run the setup procedure, no sound comes out of the speakers at all and it just comes up with 'speaker detect error', double checked the speakers with another amp and work fine. If anyone can shed any light on the problem i would be most greatful.

I have never set an Onkyo up, but have you tried trying to get normal audio from it i.e. anything apart from the setup signals. Just wondering if it could be a problem with the Audyssey calibration chip.

Just double check the little red muting light isn't flashing on the display.

Do you have a 5.1 speaker setup? Make sure you connect to the terminals, marked "Surround" and not "Surround Back"

This is a quite common mistake as the calibration process halts if no speakers are connected to Surround channels.

I hope it works and that you will get my answer before rigor mortis sets in ;o)

The picture on the screen should show what speaker(s) it thinks are absent
