Current AV receivers are HDMI 1.4 which pass 4K upto 30p. So 4K films with 24p should pass easily. However, future 4K programmes at 50-60p won't pass.

Yamaha has announced its 2014 mid range receivers with HDMI 2.0 which should pass 4K completely.

Does anyone know how existing systems work with passthrough and DHCP? A new version (2.2) will be required for UHD bluray content, so the BR player and the TV will need it. I don't know if the reciever will also require it to be able to pass it through.

So am I right in thinking then that this amp that big boss linked to in the hot deals isn't 4k at 50 & 60p just 30p

this 4k stuff is all rather miss leading

No it isn't. Look for HDMI 2.0.

Check these:

The Aventage range with HDMI 2.0 will be announced later this year.
