A bit disappointed on the response to my faulty Sony 2400 Amp. Thought i might have read about other peoples problems concerning this Amp. Hoping to send it back to Amazon, where i read a review about someone who had bought the same Amp and had a faulty HDMI out.

Hi there,

Well, you got eight replies to your thread, with the key response that your receiver seems faulty!

Sorry to hear that. If you want to explore more issues people have had with your receiver, click here for some key Forum links.

Good luck getting it sorted. It's a great amp, but there do seem to be a few rogue ones out there (unsurprising given the quantities sold, I guess; plus receivers not being the most straight-forward to set up...)

dazroch:Hello. Bought a SONY DA2400ES recently to replace my Yamaha and wonder if it is a bit faulty. (1) When i watch Sky HD through the amp with a HDMI lead the picture on the LCD starts to break up after a short while and becomes unwatchable , so i have to watch with HDMI straight from SKY to TV. (2) Also when the TV is on stand by and the SKY box is on stand by, the display on the Amp. starts to flicker LINEAR PCM etc. erratically. Can any one help? Regards Darren.

Dazroch, it's probably because nobody here with a 2400 has experienced your particular problem, although if you do a search on Sony 2400, you'll find there have been one or two different problems users here have experienced. But it does sound as if it's either your cable or the HDMI input or output socket on the 2400 has a dry (loose) joint somewhere. It's the kind of problem your local dealer would normally be able to help you with, and one of the problems you have to put up with when buying electronics remotely from faceless 'box shifters' on the internet. I'd say it's probably best to send it back and have it exchanged.

I sent two of these back to Amazon - different fault though. I question the built quality of this model as there are others reports of different problems to be found on these forums...

I've had terrible trouble with Sony in the past. My DVD player (£500 at the time) was in for repair for over 6 months then broke with the same fault another two times within so many months. My mini-disk player broke in no time at all as did my Sony speakers. Please bear in mind that my hifi's have always been my pride and joy, they are treated with alot of care.

The thing is, on every occassion I had an absolute nightmare with the Sony customer service. I have never in my life had a returned message from them, either by telephone or e-mail. I was only able to get them to look at my DVD player by talking directly to a shop.

It will take an extremely special product to convince me to buy Sony again.

EDIT: I forgot to mention my Sony home Cinema amp packed in as well

Phoned Amazon yesterday and new Amp. is on its way. The lady on the phone agreed to a new one even though it was out of the 30 day returns policy. I hope this one is better!!!!! Thanks to everyone who replied.
