Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I cannot see any review of Cambridge's Sonata NP30
I saw the product in some internet sites and I just wanted to know how does it sound

Thanks!

Oooops
Thanks for this
My impression was that it was announced long time ago so I was wondering what happened to it
Any clue when will be out?

Due soon AFAIK, having originally been announced last May at the High End Show in Germany, but we are still waiting for a review sample.

Thanks Andrew,
It looks an interesting product.
Are there similar products in the market having internet radio and wireless streaming capabilities?
Which one would you suggest?

Hi

The Cambridge Audio Sonata NP 30 is on sale now at Richer Sounds for £399.99. I picked one up a week ago, and i must say i'm very imprest with it!. It was simple to set up and it streams music from my NAS drive perfectly! There are no dropouts like some streamers. The sound quality is a lot better than i thought it would be, streaming MP3 320 kbps sound clear and life like on my setup. It's early day's yet but as i said imprest so far.

Cheers

As an owner of the NP30, I am not over impressed with what you get for your money. I await the WhatHifi review with trepidation. I hope it will not be another glowing review claiming 24-Bit .wav wireless streaming, which of course it will not do. It has a very mediocre Wolfson WM8728 DAC, with a dynamic range of only 106dB, with a THD of -97dB.

I find the UI very clunky, with down the only direction of travel allowed to the bottom of a long list of files or stations. The UuVol portal is just as clunky. For instance, if you execute a search for a genre of stations, the returned result is presented as a random mess instead of alphabetically. Should you want to save a station, there are only 20 preset memories for all your stations and podcasts. NO favourites list.

Not a lot for £400. Should you actually want to listen to it, or to have a clock display or alarm, it's another £400 for the matching tuner/amp and decent speakers.

Similar products like the NAD C446BEE and Denon DNP-720AE are coming out soon. Can't wait for a review of the denon especially, looks like a great player.
