Having sorted out my DAC & amp choices- Azur 640aV2 & DAC Magic, along with old Rotel 965BX (?!) CD player and am needing help on some desktop speakers. They need to be magnetically shielded and have be hifi speakers ie good rhythm, decent bass & timings. I currently have Audioengine A2 linked to my PC- where all my music files are kept in Apple Lossless but would like a more "hifi" approach.

Any suggestions and budget is approx £150-200

Richer Sounds still seem to have some of these, which are very good indeed. We have a set on the desk here at home, and they sound excellent.

Thanks- I am really looking at true hifi speakers as I do have a set of Audioengine A2. I was thinking about maybe Maudant Short 902is??

Oh right. My only worry with conventional hi-fi speakers is that they might get a bit boomy when used on a desk.

Something like Cambridge Audio S30s might work pretty well, but I'd buy some thick Sorbothane sheet or something similar and cut it to size to stand each speaker on, to reduce transmission of vibration from speaker to desk.

Or you could use the speakers on Auralex MoPADs, which will have the added benefit of angling the speakers up towards your ears a bit.
