Can I connect the Denon Blu-ray player to the Arcam via HDMI and get sound from the Denon, or would I only be able to get vision? If so, would the sound be limited to Dolby Digital? As always any help much appreciated.

you would only get picture and sound pass through to TV - if you want sound through processor you need to connect an optical cable as well so no HD audio is supported
