They're still vaguely saying 'later this year' - but we're having a full new-season product briefing before the end of the month, so will bring you all the details then (and possibly some pics and preview info beforehand, as I requested some yesterday....) Watch this space!

From what I have read about the Denon machines they will feature both Blue and Red lasers so technically they will do a far better job with DVD/CD than the current batch of BD players and will also feature HQV video processing and maybe for me offer a single unit that will match the DVD/CD proformance of my Denon DV3930 and at the same time better the BD proformance of my PS3, so I can go to a single machine. They will also have onboard HD sound decodeing so I can use the 5.1 outputs and start to enjoy the HD sound formats on my older non HDMI/HD compliant amp.

Decent music replay is certainly something Denon is aiming for from its Blu-ray machines - and one of the reasons the players are taking so long to get to market: it's no easy task with the different lasers, apparantly....

Thanks Clare

Got me beady on one of the transport's instead of the full blown affair.

Look forward to reading reviews, dates and all the other good stuff.

The upcoming US models are listed here http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/High-Definition-Video-Components.asp. The DVD-3800BDCI does look very simular in both design and spec to the of my DVD3930 but with the obvious abilty to play Blu-Ray. Shame I dont have a modern amp as then I too could go for the transport only model.

I bet the combination of the DVD-2500BTCI transport and the DVP-602CI Video Processor will be very nice indeed just a shame sbout the price tag!

Well if you invest wisely in a new HD audio ready amp (or whatever the phrase for describing one is) now, it will be nicely run in ready for your new Denon purchase..............

The problem there is that I am yet to see/hear one that I like the look of (man those Onkyo's are ugly!) or that I prefered the sound to when compare to my Older Yamaha especially when it came to CD playback.

I disagree. In black the 875 is a very attractive piece of kit. It is incredibly well built and looks solid to match it's build quality. It performs phenominally well with movies and and is also very musical. The Onkyo's without the lower flap I have to agree don't look so good.

Rant over.

I've been looking forward to the Denon Transport being released in the UK for some time now. Last I heard from Denon the transport will be released in July and the 3800 won't darken our shores until the autumn!! With a bit of luck we'll have some new offerings from the likes of Marantz and Pioneer by then.

The 2500 is a transport only, and the 3800 a fully fledged player. They are both quite pricey. In another thread I tried to be helpful and point another user to a website that contains far more information about both of these products, however the post was deleted!!!

Anyway, Google is your friend, try looking for a forum about AV.
