Hi folks, having just bought a Denon 1910,I`ve a couple of questions.

Firstly, when I turn the amp on it is in stereo mode and not surround,so I have to switch it over manually. Also, when watching a Sky HD prog that has DD sound, the amp does not seem to pick this up.I have an HDMI and coaxial leads from Sky box to amp.

Any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated, and any other tips to get the best out of this amp!

Kind regards,Richard

Try changing the Input Mode setting (on remote: Menu > Input Setup > Input Mode) and see if that has an effect.

Cheers

Check that the 'Sound' menu of the Sky+HD box - the 'Digital Audio Output' option needs to be set to 'Dolby D'.

Then check the input settings on the Denon - under 'Manual Setup', then 'Input Settings', check which coaxial input you've assigned to the HDMI you use for Sky+HD (it'll be either C1 or C2).

Hopefully this will sort that problem.

As for the stereo issue, what I did was to switch over manually to the setting I wanted (i.e. Dolby Pro-Logic or DTS Neo:6 etc) while watching. Then hold down one of the 'Quick Select' buttons (1, 2 or 3) at the top of the Denon's remote. This sound setting will then be stored, and remembered each time you use that 'Quick Select' button.

There may be a better way of doing it, but I daren't re-enter the minefield that is the Denon manual!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips LL and Liam 19,sorted the default of stereo when starting up,but still got the issue with DD from my Sky box.

I`ve checked the input settings on the amp and it corresponds to the coaxial connection I have from the Sky box.As I dont have a degree in electronics, the manual may aswell be written in hieroglyphics!! So any pointers would be greatly appreciated.By the way, when playing a dvd,the amp uses the DD signal ok.

Regards,Richard
