denon a1 dvd

been offered a cheap denon a1 dvd i know it is a bit old, but i also own a onkyo tx-nr 905 amp how would this hold up if i conneted this dvd player by component leads to my amp then used the amp to upscale to my tv. Or would i be better off saving my money and staying with my sony rdr-hxr970 dvd recorder. Thanks for any help as i have very limited knowledge of how this would come out.

It's a cracking dvd player and I was going to buy one a while back but they were all too expensive. My brother in law has one and I reckon the upscaled image from the Onk would be stunning. It also has a coaxial in and a very good DAC so you could connect your pc to it for good sound. It plays cds very well direct too.
