Thats an expensive newbie system! The Denon is good, i've got one but the Mezzo's are an unknown, saying that MS don't make terrible speakers. It's possible that it might sound very good. Have you heard it?

As the five-star review shows here, the Mezzos are definitely not an unknown. Another five-star review(for the £800 floorstanding Mezzo 6) in the current issue.

We haven't tested the full surround package, however- that's coming up in our next issue, as part of a full-size speaker package Group Test, out Sept 18th.

I'd also wait on the reviews of some of the higher-end new amps from Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer etc before buying a 2007-vintage Denon. Things have come on a lot in a year for AV receivers!

And as Hi-fi Nut says, auditioning is a must...

actually its my 1st venture into home theater. i went over a friend of mine to check out that above setup, its nice, but i wasn't sure if its good, as i really have no idea what is good. My budget for this HT would be about USD3500 (for receiver and speakers, sub, NOT including LCD).

Here's a couple of dobut :

1) would denon 3808 be better than Onkyo 875 since both is about the same price range?

2) can we say that Floorstand speakers are better off than bookshelf and satellite?

3) normally would u buy a satellite / bookshelf / floorstand with sub build-in for surround? (those that we put at rear left and right)

i have also saw the review on B&W 685 theater. do u think it can compete with Mordaunt-short mezzo?
