I am using a Denon 3800BD bluray player with Onkyo 905 amp kef iq5 speakers to play cd's (part of home cinema set up)

would i be better having a seperate cd player (£300-£400) and runing it through amp or should i get a seperate amp as well?

would i notice a BIG difference in quality of sound?

and what would be a good cd/amp?

I don't believe you will gain ANYTHING by buying a £300-£400 CD player. You might gain by buying a dedicated seperate DAC, but I would imagine the Onkyo's DACs are actually pretty good.

Digital to Analogue Converter. Your Denon 3800BD outputs a digital signal which then needs to be converted to analogue so that it can be amplified and sent to the speakers. At the moment you will be using the DACs in your Onkyo.

Thanks for that, do you think the onkyo 905nr is a good amp for the cd music?

or would you recomend a seperate music amp?

and any sugestions as to which one's i should short list if that is the case.

I have it conected to the onkyo amp with chord cobra interconects from the cd output on the denon to the cd imput on the onkyo

just wondered because was going to suggest usuing one of the digital outs and trying the dac in the 905 instead of the internal one in the denon but looks like they have the same Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-Bit Stereo DACs (PCM1796)so won't make a difference
