Whatever games I play on my PS3 the audio is output in Pro-Logic 2 and not Dolby Digital. I was under the impression that the default sound for PS3 games was Dolby Digital? Have I got my amp on the wrong setting? If so how do I get it back to better sounding Dolby Digital?

Cheers[😀]

Youve connected via an optical or hdmi lead yes?

You need to select BITSTREAM on the PS3s menu

Ah thanks! It is connected via HDMI. At first I thought it was just one game but when I tried others I realised they were all in Pro Logic. Silly me

My bad. Missed that you said 'games' specifically

Games are generally sent as PCM (Digital, but neither dolby nor DTS specific). Some games output in dolby digital (And I think ive obe that outputs DTS too)

Just make sure the 'digital' light is on on your amp

Practically every major PS3 game is Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1.

Some games like GH3 are just Dolby Prologic 2 though.

Guitar Hero 3? Im pretty sure you can select dolby digital (Or some form of digital) within the menu

GH3 is DD5.1 if u download the updates - just tried it.

A lot of games have 7.1 sound as well - though im using optical in order to play 3d games. (no 1.4 amp)
