Hi Everyone

I have just purchased a new Denon 2309 after a great audition. This really is a great amp with a brilliant open and warm sound. I have teamed it up with the MT30s and I am in dreamland. However as always I have one question. Can anyone tell me how to get the best out the amp in terms of cd playback. Whats the best setting to use two M1s and the PV1 at the same time. Plus, I am only playing my CDs through an old Pioneer 565A DVD Player and am now in the maket for a decent cd player to partner the Denon, any suggestions?

Best Regards

First of all, you've got to be realistic. AV receivers don't compare to stereo amps at the same price range for cd playback. Also, your surround speakers (which are great), don't compare to traditional speakers for music either. Therefore, I would not spend a lot on a cd player as it won't improve things that much. One last thing and it's something that will come up alot now it's in the shops and also effect the sales of sub £500 cd players, the DacMagic from Cambridge Audio. For £200 you get a tiny box that you connect to your disc spinner (in your case the Pioneer) and then to your amp (in your case the 2309). It will easily be your best bet. If you upgrade to a BD player you can use that as transport and lose the Pioneer.

Thanks mate I appreciate that. I am currently look at the cambridge audio Dac aswell as the marantz 6002. In respect of setup is it best to just to let the amp crack on in stereo mode or is the pure direct mode better.

I would imagine the pure direct mode would be best but it's a suck it and see operation. What's best for your ears as well. The DacMagic will annihilate the CD6002 though.
