Hi, had the Denon 1909 as my selection for AV Amp with Kef 1005 speakers to accompany a new Panasonic G10 TV.

However, the guy in the shop (sevenoaks) says that the 1909 is being replaced by a new model and they will not be stocking them in future.

His suggestion was to wait for the Onkyo 607 or go for the Onkyo 577.

Should I really care that the 1909 is an old model ? as I can still get it from other stores

If I go for the Onkyo, what would the better choice ?

Thanks

Nothing stands still in the electronics World New models always come out. Depends if you want to wait. If you dont mind waiting, see what the Denon's bring out in their new line up and make your decision then (audition the new models). Worst case scenario is that you still like the sound of the 1909, added advantage is it should be cheaper!!

What inputs do you require?? Is there anything on the spec sheets of the new amps that you like the look of??

I love my 1909 and for the money could not have got a nicer bit of kit (in my opinion).

Like I said if you can wait till all the new models are out then great, if not just go for it you wont be dissapointed!!

Did he have the 1909 in stock? I haven't heard of any new Denon amps being launched yet but I suppose it's possible. The 1909 is a proven model with decent features and sound quality so I don't see why you shouldn't pull the trigger and buy one, if you like it that is.
