Oh dear, did I just read the words "future-proofed" in the headline?

While I'm sure the new X-series will last for quite some time (I still enjoy my AVR-3312) the word Future Proofed certainly has some requirements that even the X-series cannot live up to. Especially in these times where sustainable product design is on the rise.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say that they're 'future-proofed'. It doesn't they are going to last forever, just that they are going to be capable of dealing with the next major advancement, i.e. 8k

I'm quite interested in the x6700. I recently set up my cinema room with 7.2.6 configuration with the x8500h (or it's successor) in mind but it looks like the 6700 will do the same job albeit with the help of a power amp
