dead sky hd box

got home today to a dead sky hd box,i have sound but no picture and i cant hear the click clack sound it always makes.anyway(infact its silent) i called them up and have aranged for a man or woman to come and have a look at it, the charge is £65 and a promise of repair or replace.

hopfully replace as it is an early hd box and has always run like rubish

anyway i have to wait a week (next thursday)for visit and i was wondering if any one has had them come out do thay carry the replacment boxes on them or do thay confirm its dead and rebook for new box,and also as im a long standing customer who pays sky £100 a month for its fine service what are the chances of me pushing for one of the new mega sky hd boxes has any one tried.

How long did you have the Sky HD box for? Technically, EU law applies & you should have repair/replacement rights for free if less than 2 years, or Sale of Goods Act covers you for upto 6 years.

i think about 2 years.and if im honist i had no warnty as it fell of the back of a lorry or at least a van with bart simpson on.

that sounds worse than it was. i didnt steel it a guy came to look at the sky plus a couple of years ago and as he was trying to sort out the fault i simply asked if he could get them cheaper than the £250 sky wanted at the time..withen 10 minutes he was back from the van with a new boxed hd unit.i new it was wrong at the time but what can i say £50 from him or £250 from sky
