So after much reading of reviews and forums iauditioned a pair of Rubikore 2's at home curtesy of Fanthorpes Hi Fi . initially their top end was a little too brittle for me - having to use the tone controls on my pre-amp to tame their ear piercing highs.

I moved the speakers around my listening room -and discovered they sounded best 20cms from my back wall . The speakers were a new experience for me -as i had been using Dali Oberon 5's before .

So much more information was now being delivered - the cliche of hearing things i hadnt heard before was actually happening . Ive had them only 6 days now and i have to say im growing to like them more each day.

This demo pair are on the cusp of being too bright still -some recordings via Tidal /roon are a little much -im hoping that they havnt had the full 100 hours running time that Dali recommend .- However my turntable has more detail and precision with these speakers now- its really come to life with these boxes

I doubt those Dali speakers are bright..it could be something else in your chain...that isn't quite there and showing some short comings in the system.
Also.....it can take some time for your ears to adjust to this new sound and what you describe as brightness is the openness and space which is letting all the extra detail come through......I'm sure you'll adjust and you won't be able to go back to the sound you had previously......just be aware that the rest of the system might require some attention if it's not to the level of the Rubikore's.

Never mind the 100 hours:

Call it brain 'burn in' if you like.

My only concern is the Rotel RB1582 Power Amp - its 200 watts into 8 ohms - Dali are only 4ohms and recommended power of 150 watts max.

What do you think it is then -the speakers ?
If you were ok with the Oberon sound, but, with an identical source, you're not (completely) ok with the Rubikore sound.....
Maybe the Rubikore are really not for you.
You certainly shouldn't need to be using preamp tone controls to tame what you've described as 'ear piercing highs'.

I suspect those highs wouldn't be so ear piercing to me.
Open (non-excessive) treble and detailed sound is what makes music interesting.....to me.
But people have different tastes.

Hmm . You may be right . Ive only had them a week now -maybe my ears will get used to them - ive noticed that it isnt on all recordings - so that would indicate that its the recording not the speakers. Bob Marley's 3 little birds sound fantastic and so does Joni Mtchells "I wish i had a River " and she can go very high -so maybe its just that the speakers are much more revealing than im used to- i dont know.

We all have different ideas on what constitutes bright.

If you don't like the speakers, change them. Simples.

More often than not, once something irritates us we can't un-hear it.

True, overly bright speakers can often be tamed by repositioning however you will always have that niggling doubt and playing them for 100 hours isn't going to change their characteristics dramatically.
