Dali Lecktor 6 versus B&W CM7

I heard both the above in separate shops over the weekend. In each shop I heard them against Monitor RS8 (sounded a bit bright to me), and in both cases I prefered the Dali and CM7 to the RS8s. However since the Dali and CM7 were in different shops I could not compare them directly. Prices are Dali £630 and CM7 £730. System is for a large room 5x7m with open ceiling.

Leaving aside looks is there any reason why one would be, or is, better than the other (Dali v CM7)?

What kind of music do you listen to Simon?

Also; what is the rest of your system?

I'm a huge fan of the CM7's (my other half has them with her Cyrus set-up) and they sound superb.

I've also heard the Dali's and the RS8's and agree; the RS8's can sound too forward but it also depends on what system they are connected to (Arcam, NAD, Rotel etc are very good with M/A speakers but Cyrus, Naim etc, IMO, are too bright)

Not hear the dalis so shouldnt really comment (but i will anyways).
I really like the CM7s and in gloss black they are by far some of THE nicest speakers at any price!

Thanks for the update.

IMO, with your tatse in music I'd be aiming at the Dali's.

Don't get me wrong; the B&W CM7's are superb speakers but classical music just wont drive them as well as they can be with other music.

On another note; have you demo'd/considered the Rega RS5 speakers?

Hi Simon,

I haven't had a listed to any Dali yet, but I think that, if you wan't to make a fair comparison with the B&W CM7, you should compare them to de Ikon 6. I'd check the Ikon range too if talking about Dali. They are suposed to be better than the lektor range.

I've the RS8 and I don't find them bright at all. Maybe that's thanks to the rest of my system.
