Hello,

Search for my humble personal Hi-Fi system is coming to an end, almost.

I have;

ThinkPad Z60t laptop computer
CambridgeAudio S30 stereo speakers
CambridgeAudio 340A SE amp
CordCompany Carnival SilverPlus Bi-wiring speaker cable
CordCompany SilverSiren interconnect
KimberKable USB cable
RussAndrews Classic PowerKord
TaraLabs VanishingPoint spikes/shoes

iPod classic 120GB
Klipsch Image X10 in-ear phones

And use;

iTunes 8.0.1 & Apple Lossless format

Now I'd like to add a CambridgeAudio DacMagic to connect between my computer & my amp.
Anyone had a listen to the dac, could you describe the differences between the phase options? Or recommend a particular phase option between them?

I'd appreciate any input. Have a good day.

I find that the differences are minimal - I doubt you would say one is worse than another - they all sound great. FTR, I use Linear.

I would say that the filters are very useful for tweaking the sound:

The linear filter emphasises the high frequencies - I find this to border on being too bright
The minimum filter tones down the treble a bit and adds more midrange, but at the expense of punch
The Steep filter emphasises the bass and lower frequencies, giving a bit more punch than minimum.

I find myself switching between filters according to what source I'm using and the mastering of the material.
