HI guys,

Hope someone can offer some help!

I just bought a DAC Magic100 and connected via TosLink to my Panasonic Smart TV.

The DAC is connected to my stereo via RCA.

If I watch anything via the TV, I get the sound fine. But whenever I stream throught the TV from my NAS. I'm not getting any sound. The source files are usually 5.1DTS or similar, and I wonder if the TV/DAC is unable to handle the sound. If I connect my TV via TosLink to my Home Cinema system, it plays the sound fine.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks!

I imagine this has to do with a setting deep inside the TV, linked to the optical digital output (toslink). Basically the DAC will not decode 5.1 dts files so the TV will have to be set to output (convert) 2ch PCM. That's the only type that the DAC Magic will only be able to decode and upsample. Our Sony TV is connected to our DAC and if I don't set the output to 2ch PCM, there is no sound with some sources. Since we don't do home cinema (just stereo) this is not a problem.

Your DAC hasn't got a digital output like our DACMagic. That connection can be used to forward an undecoded signal to another component.

I can't determine from your post if you have both a stereo and home cinema system or just one system.
