DAC in CD Player vs older Amp/Receiver

Noob question,

Hi im considering purchasing a Nad C516BEE cd player and hooking it up to my amplifier/receiver a toslink or digital coax. I'm wondering, will the DAC inside of the cd player be processing the music or the one in the amplifier/receiver itself?

If you hook up by toslink or coax you are sending the digital signal to the DAC in your amp. If you want the decoding to occur in the CD player you should connect to your amp using phono (rca) cables

You can plug in both RCA phono and coax/toslink and switch between them on your receiver and decide which one you like best.
