Hello all,

I have my TV connected to my DAC (Rega) via coaxial connection for Freeview and Sky. The blu ray player is connected to the TV via HDMI but I do not get audio through the amp, only the TV.

I have tried connecting the the blu ray player directly to the DAC but still no audio via the amp.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

DACs are usually two-channel (stereo) only, blu-ray audio is typically multi-channel.

You don't mention what the amp is, if it's a stereo amp you could connect the blu-ray directly to it using the analogue stereo outputs or you may be able to tell the blu-ray player to output two-channel audio out of the digital output.

Thanks - its a stereo amp. I will try the analogue outputs tomorrow.

Hi, iam new here and new to HIFI as well. I have a similiar issue and just wanted a little help.

I have an electric avenues portable amp, a grado sr60i headphone and a sony bdp bx57 blu ray player.

I can only get the blu ray to output the audio via hdmi but i want to be able to listen to my cds on the player via my cans.

So iam trying to use the TOSLINK cable with a 3.5mm adapter hooked up the the portable amp to use my cans but the audio only outputs to the hdmi.

I believe i need to hook the player up to an av receiver to get this to work but i just wanted some confirmation.
Can I use a dac instead? And am I right in that i need an av to get the audio to output via the Toslink?

Check the players audio settings.

Does your player not have menu option for switching the coax output on or off?

It may also be outputing in the wrong bit rate.
