Well, that's something daring from Cyrus. And quite coherent with their choice of half-width cases. Will this be the end of their power supply upgrades?

In past conversations, they've always denied they'd take the digital route as it just wasn't good enough, so they've obviously stumbled upon/developed something with the technology that has been enough to change their minds. I'm looking forward to hearing it, as I do like Class D's speed/control. The amplification in their Lyric systems is excellent, so if they've improved on that and given it its own housing, there's a lot of promise there. It'll be on demo at the end of this month at our open day (not sure whether that will be the first time or not - maybe). I'm hoping I'll get time to hear I myself before then, as I never get to hear anything on the day!

....or have finally caught up.

Dissapointing that they haven't gone down the fully digital class D route in the same way as NAD and others. Never could see the sense in starting with a digital signal, turning it into analogue, then using that analogue signal to produce a digital PWM signal for the output drivers.

Actually putting a Class D in a half case is a great idea. Having Class D and mostly empty 430mm wide box not so much. The NAD D3020 a bit too much compact design not to have performance compromises, especially in heat dissipation. Closer to Lepai than NAD M2.

That white paper is detailed, which is commendable. I rarely see those.

Boisterous marketing is everyones sin so I'll save my boo's for something more interesting.

Thumbs up Cyrus. *good*

I don't really care what implementation is used as long as it sounds good. Having said that, an efficient Class whatever does make sense, as long as it is used to good effect ie. a lot of power. - I don't quite understand these 50 watt 'Class D' amplifiers as these power modules probably cost a fraction of a conventional linear power supply.

I wished I could afford the new cyrus (or a nice Belcanto) but have to do with my legacy cyrus system for a while. However, I am more than pleased to see they continue using the superb casing.

regards
