Hi

My system consists of cyrus 8 amp cd8x,denon 2805 av rec.2930 dvd player dynaudio front and centre mission rears and mj acoustics sub and panasonic 42pv500 plasma.

I currently use the cyrus 8 to drive the front speakers for surround sound, last November I paid a deposit for the av master processor.but 10 months later it still hasn't been released.

My local dealer is pushing me towards buying a new Denon or Onkyo av receiver instead as he feals "blu-ray will take off in a big way soon"and the cyrus will be obsolete due to not being able to de-code the new HD sound formats .

I still listen to music but not as often as I'd like and am worried about the drop in 2 channel sound quality if I sell my cyrus equipment.

Any advice would be helpfull

I'd get my deposit back - there's hardly going to be a shortage when it does appear - and stick with what you have until things settle down on the BD/HD DVD front, and we finally (hopefully) have players able to feed all those HD surround formats to a processor. Even if you did go for one of the new Onkyos, you could still stick with your Cyrus system for stereo, as I guess you do now.

If it's of any help at all....The Cyrus DiscMaster DVD player has only just arrived in our test rooms - review out 20th September. AV Master to be tested in the Awards issue, out 18 October.

But I have to say Andrew's wait-and-see words strike a chord with me, too - I saw far too much new high-def kit out at IFA!
