Because I can get such a good deal I have decided to purchase one of the above.

Would I be able to add a power amp at a later date thereby using the integrated amp as a pre-amp. Forgive me for asking but I have always had integrated amps in the past so my knowledge of pre and power amps is limited.

Thanks

I think you can upgrade it to a "8" series if you send it back to Cyrus and then that would allow you to attach the PX/R of whatever

Thanks Knacker. I note that you are using the Cyrus 6vs 2 MS Mezzo 2's as I will be doing. I agonised long and hard over buying this amp as I had various opinions of its suitability with the Mezzo 2's. re you pleased with the match?

I suppose the interesting question is whether an added Cyrus ower amp (if that's what you're planning) would meaningfully change anything. You could get a little extra power I guess. I experimented with using an 8Vs2 as a pre with the cyrus power and could not discern any difference. Maybe others have tried this and disagree (I'd also be interested in getting their views). You could change the character of the sound significantly by trying different power amps (e.g. valves).

That's an interesting thought K1. I was thinking along the lines of an added Cyrus power amp but the idea of a valve power amp is an interesting option.

ThanksYou could add any of the Cyrus power amplifiers to improve system power, and even bi-amp in that situation if your speakers are bi-wirable. Later onu can then swap your 6vs2 for the dedicated pre-amp, which will give you much better quality (a dedicated pre always sounds better than an integrated amp acting as a pre). This would be preferable to upgrading to an 8vs2. Once you've upgraded to a pre, you can then add a PSX-R to improve quality again.

Sorry for delay. I can say that I really like the Mezzo 2's with the Cyrus. I like the timing and the full sound that I get with them.

I would however be careful with cable matching especially the speaker cable as it can get a bit bright- the QED SIlver Anniversay XT can get a bit "ssssplasshy" sometimes. I tried some Chord Carnival SIlver screen and it improved it quite a lot. Due to the long runs, I have not been able to purchase some replacements yet but will be doing so in the near future

Thanks for that. I will be using QED Revelation but if that doesn't sound right I can swap it for the Chord Carnival Silver Screen that I have on a small system in another room.
