[size=3>I bought some I bought some a while ago and now want to move my speakers but now one length of cable is to short and the other is way to long. Can I cut the longer cable down and join it to the shorter cable or would I be best off buying a new length?

What do you think?

For me, a complete new length would be preferable, no risk of future issues with poor connections etc

However, if needs must, a properly terminated joint with sleeves /crimps/in line ferrules can work (not just twisting the wires together), but a new length must be the way to go if only for confidence

No I am about 1.5m short on one end and 4m too long on the other. (it's just the shape of the room)

Yeah that's I was thinking a new length would be best.

thanks

Generally speaking, it's best if the two lengths of cable to L and R speakers are the same length, to match impedances etc. Of course, it depends on your system cost and quality to a certain extent!

if you cut and join using silver solder you won`t have a problem
