Yea ur right.. Its just a matter of taste. The diffrence would not even be that much.. It all boils dwn to what HIFI both amps are paired with.

My post did not come out correctly, but what I meant is the Creek beats the Arcam in sound. The Creek Evo 50A is better buy than the Arcam. Hifi Choice gave the Creek Evo 50A and Editor's Choice Award, while the Arcam A19 only got a recommended award. In a comparison test in Hi-fi News, Creek Evo 50A scored 85% while the Arcam scored 80%.

hmm - you have jumped to that conclusion that one sounds better but the margin you are talking about in terms of reviews is minimal and they havent gone head to head that i know of. anyway still if you prefer the Arcam sound to Creek or vice versa you will get a different opinion. i would demo both if possible before deciding. what you can say is both are great amps highly recommended by the hifi mags

Another recommendation for audition rather than taking the word of a review. This may not reflect how you hear a particular product. Love both Arcam and Creek, each bringing their own unique tricks to the party.

Hard to say, but the Creek seems to suit my taste because it is slightly more analytical and detailed than the Arcam. You think I trust reviews??? I don't trust reviews that often. Whathifi gave my Hegel HD2 3/5 stars, yet still bought one because to my ears it sounded better than the Arcam rDac. I even owned a Rega Brio 3 which only scored 4/5 stars, yet still bought it because I loved the sound. Guess what? It should've scored 5/5 stars like the Brio-R, which has basically the same sound signature as the Brio 3. However, if more than one magazine gives a product an outstanding score, then it is with common sense to suggest that product must be good.

Doesn't matter how many reviews a product gets and whether they are good or indifferent, it'll sound crud unless it suits the rest of your kit and is also to your personal liking.

Perhaps I'm one of a dying breed that doesn't give a stuff about reviews or stars....

What the reviews suggest is that someone with a budget of around 700 quid for an amp should have both the Arcam and Creek on their auditioning list.

HAving read the reviews the Creek does sound and I will hear one on Saturday hopefully. I have heard the Arcam A19 briefly and my impression was its very refined maybe too refined for me, so on paper the Creek sounds a better bet but who knows until I hear it. The problem with reviews is they are otfen done using high end gear which you are unlikely to use in your system. The other problem with Creek is finding a dealer who stocks it along with some speakers you want to hear.

If there's one thing I'd nitpick about the Creek is that it has a rather slim bass compared to the Arcam which is much more fuller. I guess it seems more detailed than the Arcam because it has less bass. The Arcam has too much bass and the Creek lacks a bit of bass.

therefore partnering equipment will be key. if you feel the Creek lacks some bass then a floorstander may help, if you feel the Arcam has too much then partner with a neat standmount on stands and this may well work a treat - this is why saying one model tops another for sound based on a % review score is so general and not right as it depends on the partnering set up. however in general terms both are great amps and worth a demo alongside your existing speakers / source

What did you hear the Arcam with i.e.speakers ansd source, did you hear the Creek with the same items

I heard them with the Kef R700s. Overall, I prefer the Creek, but the Arcam is still an excellent amp. The R700s do need a bit more power, so it wasn't the best setup. For similar money, the Creek looks way better with its brushed aluminum and OLED display. Still, the slightly more expensive Musical Fidelity M3i I heard edged both of these amps.

Try and listen to Leema Element amp with the Kefs. If the Elements mirrors the Pulse it should crackle and ping... I would be interested to see read your thoughts in comparison with the Creek and Arcam.

having listened to both evo50a a fmja19, i choose the evo. ifound the sound a lot more refined and mature also bass was a lot tighter

There are many good amps to look at in the price range include Marantz PM7005, NAD C356BEE, Roksan K2, Rotel RA-12, Audiolab 8200, Pioneer A70.
