Not even home insurance with accidental damage cover?
Well, a replacement screen module appears to be around £130 and up (if you buy just one, though I'm sure the major repairers bulk-buy them for a fraction of this), but if you're lucky it may just be the glass cover over the display that's cracked, and not the display itself – and that's a much less expensive part, which you can find for about a tenner on Ebay delivered from some point East (usually Hong Kong or China rather than Korea).
Either way, fitting is a job for the highly experienced, or the very brave and foolhardy, as there's a lot you can damage in a moment of hamfistedness.
IMO the best bet is to find a recognised Samsung service centre/agent – we have an independent one just up the road from the office, there are similar outfits all over the place and
Carphone Warehouse has its own Express Repair Centres, as do other mobile phone vendors, offering a same-day service where possible – bite the bullet and hope it's just the glass screen that's cracked.
Then, when it's fixed, consider a case, a screen protector, and some accidental damage insurance.
