Buyer beware. 803d3 sucks. As current owner, have to change woofers once in yr 3 n again in yr 6. Tis becos rust very badly at back of woofers. And repair is expensive. Additionally, mid range front face stained very badly after 2 yr, so much so one might shy fm showing to guest that u bought a bad product. Buyer beware. Better speaker elsewhere that can last.

Living in warm Asia. Regrets spending USD 5 figure sum to get speakers that badly corroded within a few years only!

Not sure you should be blaming the speakers.
The humidity in your environment wouldn't be good for any brand (unless maybe designed for marine use).
Hi Gray,
I hv owned many speakers before and NO one is as defective as tis.... By yr logic then, no one in my ctry shd own any speakers in high end hifi...? Anyway, Buyer beware. Rgds.

I agree that this sort of corrosion is not acceptable if a manufacturer has retail outlets that sell these speakers in your country. They don't seem to be fit for purpose. Especially but not exclusively expensive items like your B&W's. They should either replace the drivers or suggest and pay for treatment of those if that is at all possible. If you have shipped them in from elsewhere privately the seller may not care/or doesn't know about humidity issues and you have to count your losses.

Have you contacted B&W and is this common in your country for this model speaker?

B&W blamed humidity n hv the cheek to suggest that I trade in n pay for a new pair of speaker (n likely to repeat tis corrosion n $loss a 2nd round). Tis is beyond irresponsible in my opinion. If a product is defective in my ctry (Asia), it cud be an issue for many too....so its an advice that buyer beware..

Did you buy those in your country and do you have a purchase receipt you can provide a photo of (black out personal/account details)?

Hi RoA, I bought tis from dealer in my ctry. Tis is shared only as a feedback for the community , I hv no intention to provide proof of purchase receipt etc. Hope you understand. Rgds.

I agree. B&W should accept responsibility or design their products fit for purpose.

Indeed hence my question if this has happened to others
I'd be questioning why he bothered to repair them twice if he knew the same thing was likely to happen again....
That said, attempting to run any electronics in conditions it obviously wasn't designed to work in is going to have a certain degree of risk.

I guess if I'd bought a pair of speakers for that amount of money and if I like them I would have done the same. I still wonder what kind of environment would cause such damage. I tried to google it and could not find anything that severe. It really looks like they've been emerged in saltwater for some time Titanic style.

Precisely, an old sceptic like me finds it unusual that a first time poster comes on here with an item such as this..... But that's just me.

Hi, this problem will get angry anybody. Those magnets are ferits and they corrode. For your purpose and environment will suit better speaker like Magico, which are closed, no bass reflex which transfer humidity from outside into the box.

Nonsense.
The OP has had these speakers in an environment that no speakers are likely to survive.
The fact that someone living in these conditions comes on this forum to warn others, the vast majority of which may never encounter these conditions, nor actually afford these speakers, is purely having a bash at B&W.
This was his sole intent in my opinion.
It is noted he fails to provide evidence of ownership nor details of other speakers he may have had prior to these....

I totally agree Al. When I first saw the thread it was only his 2nd post. Not mentioned his other speakers and just wants to diss B&W. Perhaps this thread should be locked.
