After living with no HFi for nearly 5 years, I ordered myself a nice budget system CEC CD3800 and AMP 3800. CEC are best known for their belt driven CDs and transports, but their budget stuff is nice too Great bang for your buck. Very smooth, musical and detailed. Blew away the Marantz CD and PM 8003 I was considering against it, and worked out nearly a third cheaper. CD player has multiple digital inputs allowing you to utilize its DAC. The amp is pure class A.
But
It hasn't arrived. After waiting 6 weeks I contacted the store who contacted the manufacturer only to be given another vague deadline 6 weeks later, but I can't stand it anymore.
I thought maybe you could convince me that I'd really be doing the right thing by going out and buying a Luxman L505U integrated amp instead. Please convince me that this path would in fact save me money in the long run by avoiding many intermediate upgraditis stages.
Then again, I'd really want something a bit better than my 685s to do it justice...
