Conversion Question

Hi,

As per a few of my recent posts I've recently purchased a Nexus 5. Prevously i used ALAC and pulled music on and off of my iPhone depending on what I wanted to listen to that week. It was a right PITA so I am now looking to duplicate of my ALAC music in 256 or 192kbps so I can get as much as possible on my new phone without killing the sound quality.

Can anyone tell me the best way to go about this?

Cheers Craig,

If only you had been online a couple of hours ago! I knew there would have been some software to help me out but couldn't find anything online. I'm now in the middle of converting around 300 albums via itunes playlist to 192kbps. After that I'm going to try to transfer them. If I have anymore problems or if itunes winds me up anymore I will give max a go. In fact I will probably try it tomorrow anyway as the way I'm converting just now is rather convoluted.

Oh and another quick question. What music player do you use? I will be using my converted files (hopefully) and using some downloaded spotify playlists. I would rather access all of my music via one player so does that mean i'm limited to spotify or are there better players out there that will also play my locally stored spotify files?

Would have been simpler just to download Googles Play Music Manager to your Mac and point it at your iTunes library.

It will match your music with what it has in its catalogue, and upload any it hasn't (and automatically convert to 320k mp3 in the process)

Your library is then available to stream from/backed up to the cloud, and you can 'pin' music to your device for offline listening

Cheers Dave.

All of the tips come in after I've spent two hours EDITEDing around on i Tunes! Will also take a look at that. Couple of questions. Does that count towards my google drive allowance? My collection will blow the free 15GB out of the water. Also how would that integrate with my offline Spotify playlists? Will they also be available via Google MM?

No completely separate from your drive allowance. They allow you to store upto 20,000 tracks with Play Music

No, and not aware of any player that will do that (I imagine there would be DRM in place to stop you from doing it, due licensing issues)
