Connection Upgrade Advice Needed

Hi,

I just picked up a Sony BDP-S370 Blu Ray player for £49.99. (New!)

So I tried out all it's features including streaming music via DNLA.

I noticed a significant sound quality and clarity improvement (I am connected to my reciever/stereo.) compared to Spotify Premium on a netbook connected up using the headphones output into 2 RCA.

Mp3's even as low as 128 are sounding better via the blu-ray player hooked up to my network compared to Spotify's highest bit rate.

My best guess is that this is because the tracks are being accessed digitaly over my network. (Optical from Blu-Ray to reciever).

Therefore, would I be able to equal or hopefully better this , if I connect my netbook running Spotify via USB to a DAC then to reciever/stereo ?. Bypassing the headphones output and keeping it digital ?.

(I don't suppose netbook via USB to BLU-Ray player front panel would work)

What would be the best way for me to upgrade the Netbook/Spotify connection ?.

If your AV Receiver has an S/PDIF input free you could shell out for a Musical Fidelity VLink, otherwise the Behringer U-Control UCA222 will give you an analogue output from USB.
