connecting turntable to imac with Y adaptor

Hi guys, if I connect my turntable to my iMac via Y adaptor would the sound quallity be ok or would it be to low?

Does the TT have a built-in phone pre-amp?

What brand/model is it?

[EDIT] Ok you have a Pro-ject Debut Phono SB turntable with built in phono pre-amp and a CA 350A amp.

Hi my project one I got on ebay was broke since then I was given a technics 1210's by my brotheer but I'm now thinking it would be easier to go didgital now ad transfer my vinyl

Ok look at something like the Rega Fono-Mini A2D (£85).

It's a very good, very compact, phono pre-amp and has USB output so you can digitise your albums.
