I have just bought a Sony BDPS360 Blu-ray Player, its due in a week or so, and i am now wondering whether i can connect it to my current samsung surround sound speakers simply or am i going to need to buy a new surround system? I am not the best when it comes to this sort of stuff so am looking for some "sound" advice. Thanks jonny.

Is the Samsung speakers just speakers? If so you will need an AV (audio visual) amplifier to go between the Sony and the speakers. The Sony will connect to the AV amp with a digital cable, probably an HDMI and then the speakers connect to the AV amp with their speaker cables.

Or is the Samsung an 'all-in-one' home cinema system with an amp and speakers? In that case all you need is a digital cable, probably HDMI to connect the Sony to the amp.

Hi thanks for info. I should have stated the samsung is a home cinema set up, with amp and speakers, so all I really would like to do is lose the dvd player, so as you say if I get a decent hdmi, then I should be able to connect Sony to amp? Thanks.
