All the hi-fi systems I have looked at don't have a optical audio input.

I also considered trying to connect my ps3 to my computer speakers (logitech Z4) but i don't know how as they only have a 3.5mm jack input.

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

You can hook your PS3 up to your hi-fi using the original AV Multi cable that came with the console i.e. looks like this:

Assuming you are using HDMI for picture, hook this into the AV multi out socket and then plug the red and white cables into your hi-fi (leave the yellow one unconnected). Then go into the settings and go to Sound Settings and Audio Output Settings. Select the Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI choice.

You'll now continue to get picture coming out from the HDMI but sound will be redirected via the AV Multi connector into your hi-fi.
