A retailer recently told me not to waste money on expensive coaxial digital cables - instead to use a composite video cable as it is basically the same thing. Truth or nonsense? If nonsense, whats the difference?
All an electrical digital cable is is an interconnect with a 75ohm impedance. So yes, you could use a composite video cable, or indeed one 'leg' of a component cable. Whether you can hear a difference is a debate in which I think I'd really rather not get involved on what's shaping up to be an otherwise pleasant Sunday morning with the papers and a very large cappucino!
