DVD HOME CINEMA SYSTEM TO BLU RAY

I'VE GOT A PANASONIC SA-HT900 HOME DVD CINEMA SYSTEM WITH SEPARATE SPEAKERS AND SUB WOOFER. I WANT TO UPGRADE TO A BLUE RAY PLAYER DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN DO THIS WITHOUT HAVING TO RENEW MY CINEMA SYSTEM (SPEAKERS/SUB WOOFER)?

DO I NEED A BLUE RAY PLAYER PLUS A RECEIVER SEPARATELY TO DO THIS OR DO I NEED ONLY A BLUE RAY PLAYER TO CONNECT INTO MY SPEAKER SYSTEM.

IF I NEED SEPARATE BLUE RAY PLAYER PLUS A RECEIVER WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.

THANKS

The system won't accept the HD audio formats from Blu-ray, so if this is important to you then yes, you'll need a player and receiver. Oh, and new speakers, since the ones with that system won't work too well with a new receiver.

Personally I'd give it a few months until the new receivers are out, and also the Blu-ray all-in-one systems bound to be on the way from the big names in the near future.

Otherwise you're probably looking at around a grand for a Blu-ray player, a receiver such as the Onkyo TX-SR605 and a set of speakers.
