Need both but trying to cut down on boxes. Hard to find, do they exist? Only one I have sen so far is by Clearaudio. Anyone know of others?

Cheers

Paul

You could always buy a preamp with a good headphone output. Have bought an old NAD 1020 off ebay and am enjoying listening to that ATM

Thanks everyone. Is there a technical reason why they dont combine headphone amp with phono or is it just a marketing decision?

I think it would be a very limited market. You either need a way to get better computer replay hence the likes of Dragonfly and its ilk. Or you need record replay, and hence a phono amp or preamp. Budget amps like Marantz and Denon often have headphone sockets and phono stages.

As you've found, most headphone amps expect line level input. I'd suggest looking again at the Furutech which is the obvious candidate, and in future you may find the DAC handy!

Nopiano is right that it would be a limited market nowadays.

However there are a few devices out there if you search.

One alternative (as has been suggested) is to get a second hand budget integrated amplifier, which has phono and line level inputs, plus a headphone socket.

Out of interest, you have a lovely A38 integrated amp, what is wrong with the phono stage and headphone output? I can't imagine that they are too shabby?
