Cleaning a speaker?? (PMC)

Hi,

ive tried dusting my PMC's with a duster gently but they look like some dust is almost stuck to them.

Would I ruin them if I used a wet sponge and very gently wipe them down?

To add... It's the cones that have dust 'stuck' to them...

I would not use water, think most PMC cones are made from paper.

On cones use soft paint brush..for front and side of speakers use eraser sponge with distilled water..(poundstrecher for eraser sponge) dry sides and front with kitchen roll..

To be serious some of the doped-paper drivers have an almost gravitated to them and trying to dust is a pointless task.

I have employed a photographers blower-brush in the past but don't bother now.

I was going to suggest Henry brush on low power vacuum but might cause a stink..its what I do..lol meant I use a vacuum cleaner not i cause a stink!

To be serious some of the doped-paper drivers have an almost gravitated to them and trying to dust is a pointless task.

Many speakers are damped with a doping material that is designed to stay sticky, hence the dust sticks.

Forget trying to clean it if this is the case, if you insist on using speakers without the grills a nice soft dry brush will remove anything that is loose. I use a nice soft 2 inch paintbrush for dusting anything hi-fi. Works a treat, just don't let it get wet.
