To be honest, they're all much of a muchness. Have a look on Amazon, there's plenty to choose from. Here's one to get you started:

Blackdawn:Can anyone recommend a good quality, but not ultra expensive CD lens cleaner for HiFi use?

What's the problem you're trying to solve?

No problem as of yet. But I thought to keep the CDP sounding tip-top I should need to clean the lens every so often. I thought this kind of topic might come up more often than mains cables for example, but obviously not! Does it matter what type of lens cleaner I use? What do the Hi-end companies use? £5-£10 lens cleaners?

No, you shouldn't need to clean the lens regularly, as the spinning of the disc will tend to blow any dust away from it.

The best way to clean a player when problems such as skipping or failing to read the discs Table of Contents occur is to unplug the player, take off the lid and clean the lens with a cotton bud moistened with isopropyl alcohol. The bud should be barely damp, and you should use as little pressure as possible.

you never know , you may even find an oppo inside

I seem to remember reading somewhere that this shouldn't be done with an acrylic lens, or have I got that mixed up somewhere? (probably!)

Never had any problems in this respect in the past, but you could do the same thing with a dry bud or an artists' soft paintbrush if you're nervous.

That should be sufficient to sweep any dust off the lens - which is all a cleaning disc will do. More aggressive measures such as the alchohol should only really be needed if you have the player in a smoking household or you use it in a chipshop or something.

And by the way, worth pointing out this method of cleaning is only relevant should the player be out of warranty, as opening the lid to do it will invalidate any warranty.
