Classical Music on Vinyl.......??

Hi guys,

Never really listened to any classical music over the years, but thought I may put my toe in the water and try and get some on either new or second hand vinyl.....

Can anyone make any recommendations on Classical Music as a first visit to the genre.....I know nothing about it really so any advice would be more than welcome.

Anything on the Deutsche Grammophon label should be good as far as quality is concerned, there should be other "quality" labels that I'm sure someone else can fill you in on. Without knowing what you like (which you aren't going to know until you hear some) just pick up anything you can as cheaply as possible, as long as the vinyl doesn't look too scruffy.

Classical music on vinyl can sound great, but be aware that in quieter passages, vinyl noise can get quite intrusive - hence why most classical music enthusiasts changed to CD as soon as they could...
