Class A amplification to be outlawed?

A techie friend mentioned to me the other day that the Class A amplification is soon to be outlawed here in UK due to it's excessive power consumption.......................Is there any substance to this, has anyone else heard about this?

So every valve amp and Sugdens etc?

I doubt it somehow.

By the same logic they would have to ban all powerful hi-fi amps whether class a or not.

Sounds like a wind up to me.

Can't see it myself.
Class A due to its 'push/pull design does have a higher power consumption but it does sound so lovely giving such clarity and detail to music!

It's also good at heating up the room!!

I must admit I find the idea unbeliveable, but then I think of betamax and high def and wonder..............
