Hi Folks,

Ive has my CCA only 3 months and suddenly it no longer connects when I cast!

Currys were bloody useless when went to take it back for replacement today as I’ve had it 3mths.

Ive been mighty impressed until now, especially for the £30 cost.

My question is - have I just bought a dud, or are these cheaply made and prone to break?

If they’re cheap rubbish, I won’t bother getting another.

Cheers all.

have you checked in the google home app to see if it’s connected etc. I had loads of problems maintaining a connection of my cca to a router some way a way, when I stayed in a big house that a relative rented over Xmas. Where is your router in proximity to the Cca? Does a new set up make the cca ‘seen’? Most of these issues are to do with connection and wi Fi I’d geuss.

It’s in the same cabinet no more than few feet away. It’s visible... It was fine then just stopped this morning.

Hit ‘cast’ and it just says ‘connecting’ for ages then gives up.

*Edit. I’ve also reinstalled it from scratch and same issue - so it’s knackered!

If it’s in the same cabinet and not in the open, that could affect it. It’s more likely to do with your router. Setting permissions to connect (or removing from any restricted devices), firewalls off etc. It may think the cca is a threat. You want to check in router settings if it’s listed as a device with its MAC and ip addresses etc. This will tell you if it’s seen in the list but not working, which would point to a problem with the cca. Maybe setting fixed IP address. What router is it? You should check how to reset the device to factory settings too if you can.

Thanks Quest. Will have another play with it tomorrow (watching rugger atm).

If not, might be a free pass to get a CXN!

...made silly bet with Mrs Amor wouldn’t buy anymore kit for a year (ends in Oct).

The mobile I use as my source for my CCA is a Galaxy S5. From Google Play Store I downloaded "Wifi Analyzer". This app tells me the signal strengths of wifi in the phones vicinity. Beware the results are only a guide, you need professional gear for real reading, but I found it useful to resolve my dropouts. Of note to me is that a new neighbour has installed a new router, that puts out a strong signal on the same channel I was using.

I also now connect the CCA via ethernet using this:-

And the muppet of the week award goes to me!!

worked out had a problem with my virgin media broadband as it’s started crashing out last couple days.

Just called them, they’ve remotely tinkered the settings, plugged the CCA back in and hey presto it works again!

darn, no free pass on a CXN! Lol!
