Pistol Pete1:Remind me, True Blue......Have you heard the superscreen to be able to compare....or are you assuming it's better cos it cost more?

Aghhhh flashback to another thread..................

Only joking, yes I auditioned the superscreen on my CDP was not blown away. Personally Ithink you have absolutely nothing to lose. If you can get a dem of the Powerchord and go from there only you can tell.

I see the Rega Saturn is a serious cd player at Over £1200 brand new......it probably warrants a £120 mains cable....will my Marantz KI (£500) be up to the challenge?

Well, if it works on a £1200 CDP it should also work very well on a £500 player. Also remember that the used/dem Powerchords are only around £70. Again if in any doubt yourself get a powerchord and demo.

You got the purple or orange one? The one I have seen is orange, so is the older version....much between them...or just a colour change?

Orange one fitted to my CDP, purple one fitted to my Panasonic TV. Suppose that would be an interesting test............may swap them round at the weekend, before I send my IC back to chord for modification to 5pin din

Thingis the "new"one (purple) came in exactly the same box as the "old" (orange) one. The product data sheet in the new one showed the oldone on it. Doubt there is any difference except for the colour, as said earlier.

I think that is what someone recently told me, anyway...... so a 0.5m second hand one for £55 delivered is a bit of a bargain then?

Great news Pete you wont regret it, let me know your findings. Yes I found them and clicked the "buy it now bit" but didnt know my wifes paypal number, so had to ask her. Was not too impressed as have bought two already this month and am sending my Chord Chameleon back to Chord to modify to 5 pin din. So hopefully they will have at least one left as of Monday!!! when I have been paid.

True Blue:No these are not conditioners ie contain no smoothing circuits. These are upgraded cables with increased shielding and better quality conductors and plugs, hand crafted.

Smoothing circuits? You mean like electronic? No no, a quote...

"From the start, what piqued my interest in Wireworld's 52 line of power cables was what seemed to be the scientifically sound reasoning behind their design. Wireworld makes no wild assertions that cables must be bathed in the light from a crystal of kryptonite, or other such nonsense. Instead, they designed their cables' geometry and construction to drive the cables' inductance and capacitance values as high as possible, to create a cable that is also a passive filter. The basic idea is that every 52 cable naturally rejects frequencies above the 60Hz electrical carrier, effectively making it the equivalent of a power conditioner. This may sound strange, but it makes a lot of sense. All cables have properties of inductance, capacitance, and resistance, which are all that's required to create a filter. The idea of tweaking a cable design to generate a filter effect is not only far from crazy, it borders on genius."

Some other intresting quotes...

"It stood to reason, at least in my mind, that a few feet of high-quality wire at the end of the chain weren't going to fix the ills the current had gathered from its travel through the several miles of low-grade wire it passes through before it gets to the outlet. The design of the 52 cables threw a wrench into that line of thinking."

"The truth is that the difference between the stock cords and any of the Wireworld cords was immediate and obvious. The soundstage opened up, the clarity improved, and the entire fabric of the music was set against a dead-silent backdrop. "

If I know there is a demand for them, I might buy them all and then re sell for more money!!

I read on a website that after using the first mains cable on a source component (say the cd player, for example), the next cable on the receiver will not show that much improvement, due to the first one 'clearing all the interference' at the source of the music reproduction.....

Any thoughts on this?

I tried the superscreen on the cd player last night (Alpha on the receiver still), with the best results. Then tried my alpha on the cd player and superscreen on the receiver...improvement was better than when two alphas are being used.

Clearly, the source component is the one to fit the best cable onto.........

I was pondering the same question -- Chord vs. Clearer Audio -- but now the cheapo Chord has gone off Ebay, and I think I'll stick with Clearer Audio for the time being in order to save some money. Still interested in hearing more from people who have compared the two though.

Not received it yet....hopefully Monday?

Will post something as soon as it appears and I can do a comparions with the alpha and superscreen cables......

i got the 1m powerchord from the same seller by the way

paid for it on monday so hopefully should arrive maybe tomorrow or friday possibly. i recently got a chord superscreen and was well impressed with it on my musical fidelity x-ray cd player. so the powerchord should really really impress by the sounds of peoples comments.

Just checked on Royal Mail tracking, and mine is due to get here tomorrow.....

I noticed they 'flew out' on Monday. he had 3 one metre and 2 half metre cables for sale. Guess people may have seen this thread......?

The alpha is quite bright, but detailed in presentation. The superscreen was easier on the ear (not so bright, but the vocals were more midrange), especially when it came to female vocals, but it missed a bit of top end detail. I'm hoping this cable will be the best of both worlds!!!!!

Shame there are no reviews on this cable, but if you look at Chord's recent track record for cables, most get 5 stars........roll on the morning!!!!

Mine has just arrived!!!!!!

Initial thoughts are very good. The qualities of the superscreen are still there, but with a bit more openness and detail at the top end, which is what i was after........

I will do some comparisons later with the alpha, and then borrow my friend's superscreen too.....

Powerchord vs alpha :

Wow, what a difference, but I guess there should be as the Powerchord retails at 3 times the cost of the Alpha.

As I have said above, the Powerchord sounds similar to the superscreen (as far as I can remember).........in other words the treble is more controlled and less 'shrill', and Taylor Swift's voice is now in the midrange and treble, rather than too much treble.

The separation of instruments and vocals is far improved too, which makes for a more realistic presentation of the music, in my opinion.

Looking forward to trying out the Powerchord and Superscreen later tonight hopefully. I have a feeling the differences will be very slight, but as I got the Powerchord for less than the RRP of the Superscreen, I'm very pleased.......
