What about the Chord PowerChord, or Russ Andrews Classic PowerKord 320i + superclamp?

I recently got an ex dem Chord Powerchord (orange one) for half rrp. I was very sceptical that it could make any difference to the sound in my 2ch set up below.
I replaced the Rega saturn's chord with my new Powerchord and instantly the music was much more dynamic, the sounstage opened out, the leading and trailing edges of notes were so precise so crisp I was literally gobsmacked. Pound for pound this was definately the best upgrade to my system.
I did try it on my Naim Nait XS, but it did not seem to do a great deal so I swapped back to the CDP.
I am installing a sepearte radial circuit and MCB purely for my HIFI with 6mm cable, so will feed back on that at a later date as to its effectiveness.
I will also add that I was so impressed with the Chord Powerchord that I also bought another off fleabay again for around £70, and attached it to my Panasonic TV, this was already connected to a Tacima Block so the PQ was already superb, also the cable that comes as standard woth the Panasonics have two ferrite clamps fitted which reduces RFI. Yet still there were very subtle improvements in the PQ on SD and quite significant improvements in HD. However the biggest gain was in the sound through the TV speakers became more dynamic and very much clearer.

I have a Clearer Audio Alpha (£35 - 5 star) connected to my Marantz KI cd player at the moment......and it's amazing.......but, as always, I am curious to how a more expensive cable with improve it further. The idea is to buy a more expensive one (if improvements are bigger), and put the alpha onto my sub (done it recently, and am very impressed with the improved depth and definition).

TBH, for roughly an extra £5 I would get onto ebay and buy a Chord PowerChord, think it was this magazine that said the Superscreen is suited to sub £500 componants and the Powerchord to +£500 componants, either way with so little difference in price I know which I would get (and will probably end up getting a couple more for my reciever / sub / br player).
No these are not conditioners ie contain no smoothing circuits. These are upgraded cables with increased shielding and better quality conductors and plugs, hand crafted.

But compare it to the Chord and the midrange is not there. Instead (with my system, anyway) the midrange turn into high notes, and with female vocals it can make the sound a bit 'shrill'. It's not as noticebale with poor recordings (Pink Floyd), or male vocals (The Script).
Put the Chord onto the system (cd player), and the female voices move into the midrange of the sound, therefore creating a more 'mature' sound, I guess is the best way to describe it. Now, how about the Ruaa Andrews Powercord 320i and superclamp, or the Chord Powerchord (more expensive mains cable in the Chord range)?

I'm don't have any special allegiance to clearer audio or Chord (apart from owning some of their products, but the copper-line-alpha is a £35 cable and the chord superscreen a £65 product.
If you are looking further up the food chain (Russ Andrews Powercord 320i and superclamp, or the Chord Powerchord) you may also want to consider the clearer audio copperline (circa £100) and the silverline (circa £150)

I speak about the RA and Powerchord, but will not be paying that kinda price. I can get them both for around £50 (second hand)........which is seen as the better one?

Are you able to tell me (i might get in a kafuffle here) if the power cords in general can have different connector sockets on the end!! ie some of my products the power cable is like a triangular shape 3-pronged or some are 2-pronged. about as clear as mud!

J4MM3R - I think the 2-pronged connector you refer to is also known as a figure 8 adaptor (like the one that connects to a sky box for example)
I still have the Chord superscreen....I'll try it on my tv after the wife has finished Emmerdale!!!!!

or Chord Powerchord, second hand (0.5m) for same price? (RRP £120 - next level up from superscreen) But obviously I've not tried it on my player!!

Thanks .......guess it's like the QED Profile 4x4 speaker cable....started out green, then it was changed to white but I was told by QED it was exactly the same cable.....

0.5 metre will fit nicely....tacima is right behind the receiver and cd player and both are close to the floor.....

Errr actually no these cords don't come with either as an option. However some companies do, do a figure 8 power cable and it is possible to buy an adaptor to connect the larger 10amp adaptor to the figure 8 adaptor. But in short the vast majority of power cables come with the 10amp connector.

The Clearer Audio cable adds a little clarity and colour vibrancy to the tv screen (using DVD playback), but it is difficult to fit into the rear of the tv (plug too big!), and the Chord adds a little more to both (easy to fit into back of tv)......

Remind me, True Blue......Have you heard the superscreen to be able to compare....or are you assuming it's better cos it cost more?
