I am looking for decent music playback on my Home cinema system, and am undecided if:

1) To Buy a cd player (I am shortlisting Denon DCD510, Nad C515BEE, or NAD C525BEE) all of which stand in the 200-270Euro budgey here in Malta,

2) To Buy a Denon DVD2500BT for 700Euros, as cd player and as replacement of my PS3 as Bluray Player, to Obtain HD Bitsream audio.

Is the DVD2500BT a worth CD player Combined with The Denon AVR1910, and is it a good jump in quality compared to the PS3, or is it just worth it spending 200-270Eu on a cd player and continue using the PS3 as main BD/DVD player.

any suggestions please.

When I still had my (stereo) amplifier, I was using a blu-ray transport + external DAC (CA's DacMagic) and that set-up was giving very acceptable results. The great thing about a DAC is that they tend to be versatile and offer other options in terms of inputs they take (I later added an Airport Express into the DAC for wireless streaming).

So don.t you think the internal DAC on the amp will do a decent job

The Denon DVD2500BT matched with the Denon AVR-1909 will offer a superior performance to your PS3 in terms of picture and sound quality - no doubt about that.

CD playback has been good for me - but a separates cd player and stereo amp will beat this.

It really boils down to what your priorities are - do you spend more time watching movies or listening to music?

Vtx says it here; stereo amp and cd player yes. 1910 and budget cd player. I don't think you will notice much difference with BD player as transport.

I am more into watching movies lately, But I am an album collector but am not planning to switch to a stereo amp. Cause i have everthing going through the AVR. The PS is serving much better as cd player than my DVD player, but the PS3 seems to be a bit to bright, and the DVD player (Samsung) is too dull, was wondering if a CD player with analogue connection would be the midway.

So the question really goes if the cd player except the fact that is more direct play then the PS3, (the fact that you have to switch on TV and all to listen to cds), will a dedicated CD player give better performance than the AVR acting as DAC, or will it not be worth the effort.

Well, it has been said many times here at this forum, as well as in the What Hifi magazine (and elsewhere), a blu-ray/dvd player is principally that: a blu-ray/dvd player. In terms of cd playback quality the DCD510 will beat the DVD2500BT. However, the DCD510 will not, of course, play blu-ray's or dvd's. So if you want the best of both worlds why don't you buy a dedicated blu-ray player (around the 400,- mark) and a dedicated cd-player?

Again, I would concur if the OP was using a dedicated stereo amp, as he will be using an AV receiver for his amplification, I don't think a £200 cd player will make much difference.

Thanks a lot for the help. So if it makes not much difference guess I'll just Get a dedicated Bluray player.
