okay guys i'm interested in a pair of monitor audio br1s to go with my sony str-da2400es and i would like to have my mind put to rest as to weather or not i'm able to use these speakers due to the fact that they are 6-ohms and the sony being 8-ohms.

i would really like to get these speakers but would like to know if they cause any problems or not with the sony. any advice will be greatly apprieciated.

Short answer yes you can use but you may damage your amp especially if you turn up loud. you could add a resistor to each speaker to make them 8 ohms or if you can switch your amp to 4 ohms (I can with my Sony) it will be fine. In general you can use higher ohm speakers on lower ohm amp but not the other way around(without risking damage).

Yes, no problem. My RS6s are 6 ohms, I set my 3400es to 4 ohms but there is no difference in sound if I set it to 8 ohms.
